Do you think that this years Oscars will be the most toughest, tightest and closely faught Awards in history?

I mean, I'm just looking at the Talent here. Take the possibile Nominee's for Best Actress as an example - this has to be the most gobsmacking ensemble I've ever seen in my life:

Michelle Pfeiffer - "Cheri" (although this is debatable as it is still in Post Production)
Charlize Theron - "The Burning Plain"
Renée Zellweger - "Leatherheads" - possible winner*
Meryl Streep - "Doubt" - possible winner*
Kristin Scott Thomas - "I've Loved You So Long" (Fra) - possible winner* - (This one is really one to watch - Scott Thomas was sensational in this film - she could sneak up and nab it right from under Jolie's nose!)
Nicole Kidman - Australia - yawn!
Angelina Jolie - Changeling - possible winner*
Kate Winslet - "Revolutionary Road" - possible winner* - (Will it FINALLY be Kate's year 6th time round? Somehow, I think she may have to waiy yet again - the comopletition is just too tough. She couldn't have picked a worse year to be Nominated. Still, she could get a Suporting Nod for "The Reader")
Cate Blanchett - "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"
Melissa Leo - "Frozen River" - possible winner*
Julianne Moore- "Blindness"
Anna Paquin - "Margaret" ? - still in post production. Films have to be release in the US before Dec 31st to be considered.
Frances McDormand - "Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day"
Gwyneth Paltrow - "Two Lovers"
Sally Hawkins - "Happy-Go-Lucky" - possible winner*
Emma Thompson" - "Last Chance Harvey"/"Brideshead Revisited"
Anne Hathaway - "Rachel Getting Married"

I mean, how the hELL are they gonna pick 5 outta that lot? I'd really like to see Scott Thomas win Best Actress, or else Angelina. But then there's Meryl - AGAIN! Mind you, they have robbed poor Meryl so many times now, @ this stage, I think the Academy just nominate her for a laugh and to make her look and feel like a fat looser, which is sinful. This will be Streep's 15th Nomination - a Hollywood Record!

Then there's Best Actor, where Sean Penn for "Milk"; Leonardo DiCaprio for "Revolutionary Road"; Benicio Del Toro - "The Argentine";
George Clooney - "Leatherheads"/"Burn After Reading"; Frank Langella - "Frost/Nixon"; Brad Pitt - "The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button" (doubtful); Josh Brolin - "W"; Dennis Quaid - "Smart People"
Will Smith - "Seven pounds"; Jamie Foxx - "The Soloist"; Dustin Hoffman - "Last Chance Harvey": Mickey Rourke - "The Wrestler"; Philip Seymore Hoffman - "Synecdoche, New York"/"Doubt" are all possible Nominee's!

And of course, if not Nominated for Best Actor, Ledger will win Best Supporting Actor hands down - the other Nominee's won't stand a flame's chance in Atlantis!

For Best Director, I'd say Sam Mendes for "Revolutionary Road" could be dissapointed as Baz Luhrman is long overdue and "Australia" looks pretty imipressive. If Clint Eastwood get's his 3rd Gong for"Changeling" it will be a disgrace as he needs to give others a chance. But what about this Danny Boyle for an Indian Film called "Slumdog Millionaire"? Everyone seems to be raving about it! Then Christopher
Nolan could be nominated for "The Dark Knight", Gus Van Sant for "Milk" and John Patrick Shanley - "Doubt".

Best Picture potential nominee's incl.
"Australia"
"Changeling"
"Burn After Reading"
"Slumdog Millionaire"
"Defiance"
"Doubt"
"Revolutionary Road"
"Milk"
"Smart People"
"The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button"
"The Dark Knight"

and everyone seems to think WALL-E will get Nominated???? Its possible I guess!

So will this years Oscar's be the toughest ever?
